Phalaenopsis natmataungensis (T.Yukawa, Nob.Tanaka & J.Murata) Dalström & Ormerod

I am very proud to present here for the first time on the Internet a new Phalaenopsis species. This species was described for the first time in March 2010 by Mr. Tomohisa Yukawa, Mr. Nobuyyuki Tanaka and Mr. Jin Murata in the review Acta Phytotaxonomica et Geobotanica as Doritis natmataungensis.

I would like to warmly thank Mr. Tomohisa Yukawa who procured me two beautiful pictures from which are the pictures you can see below.

I have included in the pictures the species name given by Mr Tomohisa Yukawa, but have displayed them in this page as Phalaenopsis because big changes are underway within the RHS and Doritis should be soon again integrated into the genus Phalaenopsis.

This new fragrant species was discovered in the Natma Taung National Park on Mount Victoria, Myanmar. The species name comes from the type locality where it was discovered and yet it has not been discovered elsewhere.
